scam spotting 101

We’ve put together some top tips on how to spot a scam and where they’re most likely to pop up.
Here is what to look out for
Job listings
- We will never ask you to make a payment in order to qualify for an interview.
-
We will only advertise potential positions online at www.mrpcareers.com
and on our official social
media channels:
- @mrpfashion, @mrpcareers and mrpricefashion via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok
- Post on Linked-In via our official company page we post updates on LinkedIn through our official company page.
Model search
- We will never ask you to make a payment in order to audition or model for Mr Price.
- We only use credible modelling agencies.
- If it’s not on our official social media channels, then it’s not us.
Giveaways
- If you’ve entered a Mr Price competition and you’re a winner, a Mr Price representative will call you before sending an official email from us.
- We will never ask you to make a payment in order to enter a competition.
- We will only ever run competitions on www.mrprice.com or on our official social media channels and
we will:
- Highlight the start and end date of the competition.
- Once the winners are picked, we will then contact them on the platform that they entered on – via Instagram DM or tagging them in the comments.
- We always create a winners’ post with every winner’s name on it and post it on the relevant social platform.
Online
- Just a heads up, Mr Price won't ever ask for your banking details over phone, SMS or WhatsApp. If we need 'em, we’ll drop you an official email.
- Keep an eye on the site link. If it doesn't read mrp.com or mrprice.com, it ain't us.
- Watch out for oddball links like .online, .site, .live, .net, .store, .biz. They're usually up to no good.
- Don’t fall for misspelled URLs like mrrp.com, mrpriice.com, mrpp.com. They're not us.
- Look for a secure site. Check for https:// and the little safety padlock in the address. If a site's unsecure or your browser's throwing up warnings, skedaddle outta there.
- Bad spelling and grammar? That's a red flag. It's likely a scam.
Stay safe out there! If it doesn't feel right, it probably ain't. Trust your gut and keep your info to yourself. If you smell a scam, report it. Better safe than sorry!
